Mogroside V Powder | Monk Fruit Natural Sweetener
Product Information
Overview. YaoSynBio Mogroside V is the principal sweet compound of monk fruit (luo han guo, Siraitia grosvenorii), a cucurbit vine fruit long used in Chinese herbal tradition. It belongs to the mogroside family of cucurbitane-type triterpene glycosides. Our high-purity grade (≥98%) is supplied as a white to pale-yellow powder that delivers intense, clean sweetness at minute usage levels, with no calories and no effect on blood sugar.
Mechanism. Mogroside V is approximately 200–300 times sweeter than sucrose, perceived through activation of the sweet taste receptors T1R2/T1R3 on the tongue, yet it is not hydrolyzed for energy in the body — hence zero caloric and glycemic impact. Beyond sweetening, mogrosides exhibit documented antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, scavenging free radicals and modulating inflammatory pathways, which adds functional value to both ingestible and topical products.
Applications. In food and beverages, Mogroside V is used at just 0.01%–0.05% (roughly 250× sucrose potency) in zero-calorie soft drinks, tabletop sweeteners, dairy, confectionery, and savory sauces, often blended with other natural sweeteners to round out flavor. In cosmetics (0.1%–1%), it serves as a pleasant natural sweetener and skin-soothing antioxidant in oral care and lip products. It is approved in the EU as sweetener E960 and under EC 1223/2009, holds US FDA GRAS status (2010), and is listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia with approved food use.
